Blue Ridge TraditionBlue
Ridge Tradition is a group of 29 traditional musicians and dancers
from Virginia and West Virginia who traveled to Denmark the summer of 1998 (June 17
through July 7). The group was hosted by Danish families from two different Danish
folkdance groups, DGI Svendborg and DGI
Hammerum. Blue Ridge Tradition toured
in Denmark, sharing American music and dance, and learning Danish folkdances there.
The group will performed a program
including contra dances, square dances, waltzes, clogging, shape note singing, and english
dances.
The group's musicians are Woody and Marcia McKenzie
from Blacksburg, VA, and the group's caller is Becky
McKenzie from Fairfield, VA.
